We try to update as soon as possible, games are running a little bit late and all games will be late on saturday.

Are now also in Hørsholm and while the referees are taking it easy in our clubroom the teams is shooting som hoops in fire arena.

First team has arrived

Solna Vikings was first to arrive here in Hørsholm and they are now of to have look at the great city of copenhagen.

Sun is shining in Hørsholm and it must be because of basketball it has showed up today :-)

One of the things becide all games will be the Adama Darboe skillstest on saturday night.

Gametime this weekend

Its with great plesure and hard work we are looking forward to this coming weekend. Hørsholmshallen will be filled with players of the future born 1998 and maybe some of them you will watch in a couple of years playing in the big leuagues.

Which team will take the trophy?

First place trophy in this years tournament is 61cm in height and on the 4th of September we will know which team that will go home as winners of the first anual Boys 98 Pre Season Tournament.

The Flemming Danielsen shootout

Another event on Saturday night of the tournament is the "The Flemming Danielsen shootout", where one player from each team enters the 3 pointcontest. Eventually there will be a winner of the first "Flemmning Danielsen shootout".

"I remember as a player coming over from Sweden to watch some danish cup finals and Flemming Danielsen looked like he could shot the ball from anywhere and I remember his killereyes he was all about winning the game and doing what was neccesery to achieve that.
He was a leader on the court and he could shoot the lights out and his game and winning attitude made the openents wish he was on their team instead."

Greatfull that another basketball great from Denmark loans his name to what i hope will be a great shootout in Hørsholmshallen on saturday night skills challenge.

Norrkoping Dolphins replaces Sabonis

After some stressfulls weeks its finally in place with a replacement for the late drop off in Sabonis.
Hørsholm and the  Boys 98 Pre Season Invitational welcomes Norrkoping Dolphins to the tournament and with all teams in place I can put the final touches to the gameschedule.

It will be annonced before saturday this coming weekend.

The Waseem Ahmad Challenge

Saturday night skills challenge has of course a 1 vs 1 contest that we call "The Waseem Ahmad Challenge", One player from each team will represent their team in the 1 vs 1 tournament.
Which player will be crowned The Waseem Ahmad Challenge Winner 2011?

"Waseem Ahmad was a great pointguard and I still remember the first time a saw his skills executed in a game it was actually practicegame between my team and his. He didn`t play like most nordic players did back then he was smooth and sneaky, great handles and quick like a cobra. He was to me Denmarks Isiah Thomas and a delight to watch in games, he had a presence on the court that only great players have."

I`m very happy to be able to use another great players name, to put some history behind competitions and awards in the tournament. Pre Season Invitational says thanks to Waseem "Isiah" Ahmad :-)

The Adama Darboe skillstest

As a part of saturday night skills challenge one player from each team will represent the team in som competitions. One of these competitions is "The Adama Darboe skillstest" which will be a circuit (Somewhat like NBA`s) that will demand calm nervous and sharpness and of course quikness.

"Adama Darboe is the best active PG in denmark as I see it a threat from the outside hard to guard since he can attack the basket as well as shoot it or deliever that opening pass. He is truly a profesional on and outside the court and a perfect rolemodell for bball kids. He is a general on the court and he not only directs with talk, he simply shows the way for his team and thats why he is a winner"

I`m very greatful that Adama Darboe loans his name to this skillstest and I´m looking forward to a fun night with skills challenges on the 3rd of september after the last game for the night.

Who will win "The Henrik Norre Award"?

The Henrik Norre Award goes to the best player in the tournament.

I glad that Henrik Norre loans his name to this prestiges award and hope he has the time himself to select the winner and if not it will be done by a jury.

We have some other awards that will be handed out on the finalday of competition and I`m hoping to put other great danish players names on them. So more to come....

Polish referees will come to Invitational

Since our federation wont let us use top referees from denmark we had to fix something else and today it was cleared that 4 polish top referees will come and ref all the games in Pre Season Invitational 2-4 of september in Hørsholm.

This ads a little more international flavor to the tournament and the work goes on with organizing the tournament all that comes with it.

Whats happening right now?

Well, I`m actually right now looking at the different awards and I`m hoping to get some awasome trophies and other awards put together for this first annual tournament in Hørsholm.

There will also be some short clinics happening during this weekend, but more on that as we get closer to the event.

Practical info:

Payment:
All teams pay "teamfee" of 250 euros, that should be paid before 31 may.
Guestcards is to be paid at the latest of 31th of July.

Arrival:
All teams are expected to arrive on friday if you dont get a game on friday you will have the opertunity to have a practise in other gym if you would like that.
(Games will start at 17:30 in all their will be 3 games friday night)

If you need help with transfer from Airport, trainstation that can be arranged if you let us now in time.

If you go by train the stations in Horsholm are "Rungsted kyst" or "kokkedal".
All trains doesn`t stop in "rungsted kyst" but they do in "kokkedal".


Games:
All teams will play 5 games in total.
Gametime is 4 * 10min as normal ( shorter half time rest)
All defenses allowed except zonedefense halfcourt
Games are played with ballsize 7
All games will be played in Horsholmhallen which is the main gym in Horsholm.

Lodging and food
Will be at a school very near the gym (100m)

Very important for home travel bookings
Last game of tournament will start at 16:45 and after that price ceremony will be held, so I hope all teams book their trip home after that.
All should be finished at 18:30

More info what groups and times for games and so on will come in a few weeks.

One more thing in place

Hello,

Just a little update how things are going. Yesterday I got the green light that the gym is our for that weekend that means we have the perfect location for the tournament and everything becomes easier to make e tremendous tournament.

We will use Fire Arena (Hørsholmshallen) for the tournament.

I have one last thing to fix before the invitations goes out to teams.

Top referees will ref the games

A goal for the tournament is that all that can be made as profesional and developing for the players will be done.
One thing is too use well educated referees, so the standard of the games will be high.

Some of Denmarks and Swedens best referees has shown interest in coming, so it looks great from that aspect.

More info will come out soon to teams, referees, I`m still waiting for a final word from the ones in charge of the gym that I wanna use.
